Inn Situ, Vol. I

The first volume of Inn Situ stories is done. Well, the stories are written, anyway. We have now entered the 2nd draft—polish and edit—phase of the project.

Comprised of somewhere between 40,000 and 60,000 words (depending on whether we use a meat cleaver or a scalpel for edits) this first volume contains 19 stories and introduces several dozen characters and their perspectives. Some of the stories, and I suppose some of the perspectives, directly depend on other stories in the collection, but most are relatively independent and only tangentially related to the others.

There is a second volume planned with some additional stories and the capstone to the whole piece, a novella I’m calling Meeting Osiris.

I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Scott Scherr for his outstanding contributions to the Inn and to the folks at creative critiques board for taking time to read and critique and comment on some of these stories as they were presented there.

Scott blogs at ECKOVISION and has an interesting collaboration at Madhouse Theater. Madhouse is a must read!
